Connor’s plane landed early and we picked him up without incident. I’m so glad to have him home. We spent the afternoon at the lake and plan to go back tomorrow after church, weather permitting. I love going to the lake! It’s so beautiful up there and the water has been perfect the last few times we’ve been.

Anyway… I mentioned yesterday that we are going to be making some changes and here’s the first one… we’re finally remodeling the kitchen! Here’s the before picture…Please ignore the clutter on the counters. Those counters are black, the appliances are black, the sink is black and the track lighting in front of the stove is the only light in the kitchen other than a recessed light above the sink. It is so incredibly DARK in there!!!!!! It’s pretty outdated, too. We’ve ordered new counter tops: Butterum Granite

I’ve also designed a tile back splash to go behind our new smooth top stove:

We’ve also purchase a new stainless steel sink to replace the black one and a beautiful stainless steel faucet to replace the extremely outdated gold one.
We’ve also found a beautiful pendant light to replace the totally crazy candle chandelier hanging over the bar. Anyone want a black candle chandelier?

Right now, the new stove is sitting in our garage and we’re just waiting on the counter tops to come in, then we’ll start demolition! I’ll post pictures as we go through the process. Any helpful tips would be greatly appreciated!

Hopefully, it will be complete by the end of July and we can host a “Kitchen Warming” party!!!
