As I’ve said before… I love finding ways to make common household products at home and for a fraction of the cost. I’ve made laundry detergent and dish washer detergent… today, I made liquid hand soap and body wash! It was very simple and quite fun to make. I forgot to take pictures until I was nearly done 🙁 , but here’s what I did get…

The recipe consists of one bar of regular soap. I used Yardley brand, which was 97 cents a bar at Wal-mart. 1 tablespoon of Glycerin, $3.15 for the bottle at Wal-Mart and 10 cups of water.

Grate the soap, only 1 cup. The whole bar grated will make about 1 1/2 cups, but you only need one. Combine all the ingredients in a big pot and melt.

That’s it! Cool completely, then funnel into containers.

I picked these up at Wal-Mart and made my own labels. I need to figure out a better way to make labels. If anyone has suggestions, please send them to me!

The body wash is the same concoction, just put in a bottle labeled “Body Wash”!!

It’s kind of thin, but all-in-all it’s a nice soap! Family-members and friends… be looking for these (hopefully with a better label) for Christmas! (HINT, HINT!)

Thanks MONEY SAVING MOM and SAVVY HOUSEKEEPING for the recipe!

Until next time…

Happy Blogging!
