This past Saturday, the family and I went on a road trip to Lawton, Oklahoma.  About an hour and a half to two hour drive on I-44 West will take you to the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge.
The refuge is full of hiking trails, mountains, boulders and wildlife.  Here’s Connor climbing up the side of one of the mountains.
Once we got to the top of this mountain, the view was fantastic!
My iPhone doesn’t do the fall colors justice.  The yellows and reds were beautiful!
Once we got to the bottom of the other side, this is what we saw…
Here’s some of the wildlife just roaming around the refuge.  We’re told there is also elk and deer.  We did see several Prairie Dogs!
Long Horn out the passenger window.  There were several just grazing and acting like we weren’t even there.
We had to stop and pull to the side of the road for these huge guys and girls…

We’ll definitely be going back to the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge.  For more info… click HERE
I’m not sure what’s next on our exploring Oklahoma calendar.  I’ve requested brochures on Route 66, which is right down the road from us.  That should be an interesting adventure!
Until next time…
