Since moving to Oklahoma nearly 5 months ago, we have found a church that we really enjoy.  It was the second church we visited and we felt it was where we belonged almost from the moment we set foot in the door.
It’s called Discovery Church and it is Assembly of God.  Being raised Southern Baptist, this was a little scary for me at first.  But, Discovery is a very conservative Pentecostal, in my opinion.  Rob was pretty much raised Pentecostal, but we met and were married in the Baptist church I grew up in.  I’ve never been a member of another church.

We love this church.  One of the very first Sunday’s we visited, Connor got swept into JBQ – otherwise known as Junior Bible Quiz.  We like to go to early service and that just happens to be the time that the kiddos practice for JBQ.  Our pastor’s wife leads this group and Connor just adores her.

The National JBQ website (click HERE) says “Junior Bible Quiz was created and designed to help children develop a love for the Bible and an understanding that its truth can guide their daily lives. Junior Bible Quiz offers a fun, exciting way to motivate children to understand the all-important truth’s in God’s Word.”

This past Saturday, Discovery hosted one of the final regional tournaments.

“There are twenty questions in a match, with two teams of quizzers trying to beat each other to the buzzers to get the first shot at the answers.”  The questions range from 10 points to 30 points with a Super Verse, which is a longer passage in the Bible that must be memorized in order to earn the extra points.
Unfortunately, this was Connor’s last regional JBQ tournament… they only do it up until 6thgrade.  There is a state tournament in a few weeks, but I’m not sure if we’re going yet.  And… in just a few months Connor will promote to the youth group. I don’t know if I’m ready for that yet!

Until next time…
