Road Trip…

to just southeast of the metropolitan area and this…
 America’s ONLY skeleton museum…
Today was rainy in the big OKC, so we decided to spend it inside (especially since the Razorbacks were getting creamed by Texas).
The Museum of Osteology is located on South Sunnylane Road off I-240.  It looks super small on the outside and I was worried we wouldn’t get our money’s worth, but we were wrong!
This place houses over 300 skeletons!
Specimens like these…
…and these…
This was such a cool place!  You could touch anything that wasn’t enclosed in glass.
That’s a hippopotamus!
They even had skulls from different breeds of dogs…
here’s what Macy and Rossi look like…
Isn’t that cool??
Connor thought it would be neat to be eaten by an alligator!
Who knew snakes had so many bones…
Here’s a panoramic shot of the inside of the museum…
Connor complained about going here, but he has since changed his mind.  It’s so incredibly interesting!

Gnomes, Gnomes, everywhere a Gnome…

A couple months ago, I posted this pin on Pinterest…

I meant to go back when I had time and actually purchase it, but I couldn’t ever seem to get around to it.  I never thought, in a million years, that that little picture would be re-pinned and re-pinned and re-pinned.  At last check, it had been re-pinned 106 times!  I’ve been back and clicked on the link several times and the statue has always been “out of stock”! The SEC Store should really thank me for selling so many of them for them.

Finally, on Tuesday, I decided to check it again… and it was AVAILABLE!!!  WooHoo!!  I immediately jumped in and ordered it.  I was amazed to discover that it shipped out that afternoon and guess what…

…I received it yesterday!  Doesn’t it look perfect on my porch?  I haven’t decided if I’ll keep it there or not.  I think he make look better (and be safer… there are several LSU fans in our neighborhood) in the kitchen.

By the way, I checked the SEC Store today and it’s “out of stock” again… sorry!

Until next time…

Getting Healthy…

According to the ViSalus website “the Body by Vi 90 Day Challenge offers over $25,000,000 a year in prizes for people who use ViSalus products to lose weight or get in shape. It’s fun, it’s simple, and it works!  There’s an entire community to cheer you on, and tons of online and offline tools to help you achieve your fitness goals whatever they are.”
My husband and I are currently doing a “modified” version of the Body by Vi 90 Day Challenge.

“Modified” meaning, one person is supposed to replace two meals a day with the shakes, but we’re splitting the two shakes.  Rob has one for breakfast.  I usually have a small bowl of Special K cereal and a small glass of grape juice for breakfast, which I think is pretty healthy, so I drink my shake at lunch.

Let me tell you, I’ve had meal replacement/weight-loss/protein shakes before and they’ve been terrible with a capital T… but these are FANTASTIC!  They taste like cake batter.  The company even boasts on their website that it’s “the shake mix that tastes like a cake mix”… and they’re right!  I even like them plain without any added flavoring.

Yesterday, on Facebook, I saw a recipe that turns your shake into a Mocha Mud Slide!

As you can see, this particular recipe calls for chocolate soy milk.  I grew up on a dairy farm… if milk doesn’t come from an animal, I’m sorry, it’s not real milk.

So, here are my personal ingredients.

I must say the final product was just delish!  As I’ve mentioned before on here… I love mocha frappes from McDonald’s and Double Chocolate Chip Frappuccino’s or Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino’s from Starbucks, so I know my frou-frou coffee drinks… this totally rivals them!  I love the coffee and chocolate flavors.  I could really do without the banana, but I needed to add the fruit.

I posted my breakfast on Facebook this morning and a couple of my friends commented on how good chocolate soy milk actually is, so I guess I’ll have to try it.  One also mentioned adding peanut butter to the shake!  My friend at work also suggested adding peanut butter for a different flavor, so I’m going to have to try that now, too!

As far as the weight loss portion of the Challenge goes (since that’s the whole purpose of the shakes), I’m unsure.  I haven’t set foot on my scale at home to see if I’ve lost anything… I’m too scared to!

Time Flies…

Yesterday was the one year anniversary of our big move to Oklahoma!  This past year has gone by so fast.  It still doesn’t seem quite real.

In early August 2011, we were notified that both Rob and I were transferring to the corporate office for the company that we work for.  The only problem… that office was in Oklahoma, west of Oklahoma City!  I’ve never lived more than 2 hours away from my hometown and certainly never outside Arkansas.

To make matters even more stressful, we had just over a month to make arrangements and get out here and return to work.

The first weekend after we found out, we took a road trip to look at houses.  In one day, we saw almost 15 houses!  I was exhausted!  There were a couple that we really liked, but the details on the one we chose made the decision a little easier.

Here are the pictures of our house from the realtor’s website…

It’s smaller than the one we left behind, by almost 200 square feet, but it’s big enough for the three of us humans and our two canines.  The master closet is called an “Australian” style, meaning it wraps entirely around our vanity in our bathroom.  It’s HUGE.

We do wish the garage was a tad bigger, especially now that we’ve traded in the small HHR for the much larger, much roomier Flex.

Currently, we don’t have a storage building out back.  We’re looking at those this coming weekend.  Once we have a place in our backyard to keep stuff, we’ll move the lawn mower, weed-eater, edger and all 3 bicycles to it and that will free up a ton of space in the garage.  Hopefully, I’ll be able to open the truck door without hitting the wall, a shelf, a gardening tool, etc.
This is the building we’re considering purchasing…

…the reviews are good and it seems pretty easy to assemble.  I’m just concerned about installing hooks to hang things on the walls.  We really need to hang stuff.   It is 7 foot by 7 foot… surely that’s big enough for all our stuff.  We’ll see!

Happy Oklahoma Residency Anniversary!

Until next time…
