Here’s our current “Getting Crafty…” project inspiration…
…and here is where it currently stands…
…literally…
…no, your eyes are not deceiving you… that’s our newly constructed Farmhouse Table on its side in our garage.
We’ve had some issues…
Let me take you back to the beginning, about a week and a half ago.
Friday morning, before I left for Arkansas and the Little Rock Half Marathon, Rob and I made a quick trip to Lowe’s to pick up all the wood for the table, along with Rob’s new toy… a circular saw.

While I was gone for the weekend, Rob went ahead and cut all the wood, assembled the table and sanded it, so that the only thing left for me to do when I got home was to stain it.
Here are some shots Rob took of the process…

Even Connor helped sand.
Now, for the issues he ran in to… he attempted to fill in the gaps between the wood on top with wood filler, but every time the table was moved, the filler would crack. Rob ended up turning the table upside down and filling the spaces with wood glue, then applied wood filler again on top.
And, somehow the brace across the bottom ended up crooked and the legs weren’t square.
Rob decided to completely eliminate the middle brace. The table is still sturdy without it, although, still slightly crooked.
The table is now sanded and ready for stain, which we plan to do this weekend. Then we’ll have to construct this bench.

The project has been kind of a headache… Rob has threatened more than once to scrap it and start over. I think it looks great and I can’t wait to see it completely finished. The wood grain is amazing and the Merlot stain by Cabot will showcase it even more!
Hopefully, we’ll have a finished “Getting Crafty…” project to show you real soon!
Until next time…
Happy Blogging!
