Lately I’ve become obsessed with porch posts and sign hangers.
We, in our neighborhood, continually have a problem with people going door-to-door peddling their various products or services… from magazines to home security systems to pest control to cleaning products and the list goes on…
Here was my solution to the problem…
It’s worked well so far, but I noticed this yesterday on our great friend/neighbor’s front porch…
How creative is that?! I just love it! She did such a good job.
Seeing this reminded me of some porch sign posts that I had seen on Pinterest and have been wanting to create for my own front porch.
Here are a couple different designs…
(to make this nifty project, click HERE for the instructions; I love this website! So many cute interesting DIY projects here)
(Click HERE for the how-to on this one)

Out of all the neat ideas on Pinterest, this one seems more “US”.
(for the easy tutorial, click HERE)
We have most of the materials on hand, which is always nice and economical. I plan to switch out the hook for a glass door knob or something more decorative. I’ll have to freehand the letters or stencil them on the sign since I don’t have a vinyl maker machine, but it shouldn’t be too difficult. I love this because you can have a sign for each season. Or, if you’re like me, you have a garden flag for each season… you could easily use a rod or pole to hang them on this post. The possibilities are endless!
Of course, they’ll be a Razorback related version!! I really like this one…
Hopefully we’ll get to work on this project over the weekend… look for updates!
Until next time…

This is my Dad’s makeshift scarecrow in his garden. It’s wearing a t-shirt from the 1988 Hope Watermelon Festival. Yes, that’s a bull terrier! What foreshadowing! Who would have known that 25 years after this shirt was made, we would have 2 Seeds McMelons of our own!

Here’s another picture from Friday night’s Red Hawk’s game…
Even in mid-sentence, he’s so cute!  Totally needs a haircut, though!

Yesterday was another beautiful day here in the “Sooner State”.  Rob and I finally got in the backyard to build our compost pile… and we did it for under $30!
Here it is…
We constructed it out of 4 3/8″ x 48″ rebar for $2.35 each and chicken wire (48″ x 10′ spool for roughly $16).  Hammer each piece of rebar into the ground into a square shape, then wrap the chicken wire around the perimeter, attaching with wire to each rebar post.  Pretty simple!
Did you know, if you’re not using your compost for a vegetable garden, you can throw the craziest things into the pile… from used matches to latex balloons!
Click HERE for the “75 Things You Can Compost, But Thought You Couldn’t”.  This list is very interesting!  I had no idea you could recycle hair and nail clippings in a compost pile!  As quoted on TLC’s website “Imagine how much trash we could prevent from going into landfills if each of us just decided to compost a few more things.”
How simple would it be to construct something as small as our compost pile in a corner of your yard?  Composting is such an easy way to keep trash out of the landfills.  My parents don’t have a compost pile, but they recycle everything they can and only have one Wal-Mart plastic sack of trash each week!  I hope to get to that point!
Do you have a compost pile?  If so, what do you throw in?
Until next time…
Happy Blogging!

We went down to Bricktown last night to an Oklahoma City Red Hawks came. The night was perfect until the storm game! The nice part… they’re going to give is free tickets to another home game!
