Connor is on a U14 soccer team called the Mustang Thunder. They got off to a pretty rough start this season, but managed to win the last 4 games, including today’s match-up with a team from Ada, Oklahoma. I think the boys finally started playing as a cohesive group. They have figured out each other’s strengths and weaknesses. If they continue to play like they have the last two weekends, they be a force to be reckoned with in the spring!
Today’s game was nearly a shut-out, until that pesky one-on-one penalty kick that narrowly got past Connor’s fingertips. I’m his mom, so I’m a little biased, but… my son is an amazing goalkeeper for his age. He’s not afraid to dive for the ball, or get run over by another player to stop a goal. I’m so impressed with his fearlessness! I would be running and crying if I had to deal with what he goes through each weekend… and he loves it!
