Today has been one of “those” days…
It started yesterday with a call from the school nurse.  Connor was sick, high fever, chills, sore throat, etc.  Fortunately, she called at 3:00, so he didn’t have to miss the entire day of school.  When I arrived to pick him up, he was sound asleep in the nurse’s office.  She took his temperature again before we left and it was 102 degrees.  I brought him home, gave him some Advil and called his pediatrician’s office.  I scheduled him an appointment for this morning, but ended up taking him to the after hours clinic because his fever had gone up to 104!

Sure enough, he has strep.  He’s now on an antibiotic and fever reducers and has to stay home from school for a couple of days.  His fever was 103 degrees when he woke up this morning, so I went ahead and kept this morning’s appointment with his doctor.

This is one sick kid!  I love this room at the pediatrician’s office.  The theme is fantastic and I’m sure the kids love it…I know I do, especially, this…

He is over 6 feet tall and made of metal…so adorable!  Dr. Cosby gave Connor a once over and discovered that in addition to strep, he probably has a sinus infection!  She said if he wasn’t feeling better by tonight, she might have to prescribe him a stronger antibiotic. His fever is down tonight, but not gone.  I just hope The Hubs and I don’t catch it! I’ve heard that its more difficult to contract strep throat if you don’t have tonsils… so, maybe I’m in the clear!?

Since I went ahead and took the entire day off from work instead of the half day I had planned, The Hubs took me to lunch!  We ate here…

and I enjoyed this…

How YUM is that?!  I’m all about a loaded baked potato with BBQ!  This was the Club Spud… it was topped with the usual butter, sour cream and cheese, but also smoked chicken, pulled pork, bacon, and BBQ Ranch.  It was HUGE!  It was really, really good, but not as good as this…

My mouth is watering just thinking about it!  This was the first time we’ve eaten at Rib Crib here.  There was a Rib Crib back home, but every time we ate there, there was something wrong with our food…either it was the wrong order or the service was terrible.  We said we’d never go back…we had better success today.

A little later in the afternoon, I had a follow-up appointment with my cardiologist to talk about the results of my tests I mentioned HERE.  He said my heart and lungs sounded good and cleared me for surgery to fix my hernia.  My consultation with my surgeon is in the morning… hopefully I’ll have a surgery date scheduled before I leave his office… I’m so ready to get this problem taken care of!

How was your day?

Until next time…
Happy Blogging!
