(If you’re reading this, it’s probably because I’m either currently in surgery to repair THIS (also THIS) or am still in the hospital recovering. I’ll be back soon, though! Meanwhile, follow me on Facebook by clicking the link to the left to keep up with me during this time.)

Test1a
Fundoplication is a funny word, but what it means isn’t so fun. It’s the surgery I’m having today to fix my hiatal hernia and GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) issues. The hour and a half long surgery does three things… moves my stomach back to where it belongs, fixes the enlarged hole in my diaphragm that is allowing my stomach to slide up my esophagus and fixes the valve between my esophagus and my stomach to keep the acid down. It’s done endoscopically, so it’s minimally invasive. My surgeon has done many of these procedures and is extremely confident that mine will relieve me of my symptoms and even allow me to stop taking one of my prescriptions.  Which would be awesome!

Recovery is one to two weeks and I am only allowed to eat liquids or soft foods for the next two months. Please pray that my recovery time is quick…so that life can return to normal and I can eat pizza again! Also, please pray for The Hubs and The Kid…pray that they (& the house) can survive without me for a couple days 🙂

Until next time…
Happy Blogging!
