Our dogs (yes, our dogs), Rossi and Macy, were challenged late yesterday afternoon by The Hubs’ sister’s dog Sydney to take the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Since Macy is deathly afraid of water and Rossi acts like an idiot when he gets near it, The Kid and The Hubs stepped up to take their place.

What is the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge? If you’ve been living under a rock for the past couple of weeks, you may not have noticed the thousands of videos on social media of people dumping ice cold water on their heads. The challenge is to raise awareness and money for ALS, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis or Lou Gehrig’s Disease. According to the ALS Association website (HERE), it is a neurodegenerative disease that affects the nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord and can cause loss of muscle control and eventually can lead to paralysis and even death. Currently there is no cure for ALS.
Enter, the “Ice Bucket Challenge”.
The ALS website (HERE) says “The challenge involves people getting doused with buckets of ice water on video, posting that video to social media, then nominating others to do the same, all in an effort to raise ALS awareness. People can either accept the challenge or make a donation to an ALS Charity of their choice, or do both.”
Without further ado, here are The Hubs and The Kid (plus a special appearance by a Bull Terrier shadow) completing the “Ice Bucket Challenge”…
(I didn’t participate due to the fact I had just paid major moolah to have my hair colored and straightened. I wasn’t about to get wet! Next week, I may do it and tag more people…so watch out!)
Once you finish the challenge you are supposed to “tag” someone to do it next, giving them a 24 hour timeframe to do it. In this case, we nominated my sister and her family and The Kid nominated one of his friends from school. I can’t wait to see their videos!
To date, the campaign has raised more than $31.5 million in donations to The ALS Association. If you would like to take the challenge, click HERE. If you would like to skip the challenge, but still make a donation, click HERE. Or you can do both (like us)!

Until next time…
