The Hubs and I made homemade personal sized pizzas for dinner tonight!  We don’t cook often together because our kitchen is on the small side and we tend to get in each other’s way…but tonight was fun! The Hubs has experimented for years to find the perfect pizza dough and sauce…and I think he’s finally done it! Now, I’m going to share his “secret” recipe with you!
Homemade Pizza

Dough Ingredients:
1 cup milk
1 pkg Active Yeast
2 tsp sugar
2 1/2 cups flour
2 tbsp olive oil

Sauce Ingredients:
1/4 cup green pepper, chopped
1/4 cup onion, chopped
1/4 cup olive oil
8 oz. can tomato sauce
6 oz. can basil, garlic and oregano tomato paste
14 1/2 oz. can petite diced tomatoes
1 lb. ground beef
Black pepper to taste

Dough Directions:
1. In a microwave-safe bowl, heat milk and sugar in the microwave to a lukewarm consistency, about 30 seconds
2. Stir in yeast, cover bowl with a dish towel and let sit for 5 to 10 minutes, until it starts to foam up a little
3. Add flour and olive oil into yeast mixture and stir until well combined

4. Cover again with dish towel and let sit for 10 minutes.
5. Heat oven to 400 degrees
6. Lightly flour 2 12-inch pizza pans
7. Knead dough to remove air pockets, flour hands as needed to prevent sticking
8. Divide dough and press into each pizza pan, pinching up the edges

(Note: I sprinkled my raw pizza dough with a little garlic powder…I like garlic…I promise I won’t breathe on you.)

Sauce Directions:
1. In medium sauce pan, heat peppers, onions and olive oil to a simmer and let cook until they start to turn brown
2. Add tomato sauce, tomato paste and petite diced tomatoes and heat to a simmer
3. In a skillet, brown ground beef; drain (pour grease over bull terrier food, stir, cool and let the puppies go to town…they’ll love you forever!)
4. Add meat to sauce, keep warm

Final Directions:
1. Spoon sauce onto each pizza and spread evenly

2. Sprinkle generously with shredded mozzarella cheese
3. Add other toppings (I spread pepperonis on mine, The Hubs ate his with just the meat sauce)

4. Bake for about 20 minutes or until dough is nice and brown (but not burned)
