What’s next…

We’ve almost decided on which sectional we’re going to purchase. Here’s a reminder of the 3 we like the best…image

I asked you guys on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter and the overwhelming response was in favor of the top one! I think that might be the final choice! Here it is again…Couch4

We’ve also decided instead of selling our old furniture in the upcoming garage sale or just leaving it on the curb for the city’s bulk trash pick-up, we’re going to donate it. When we lived in Arkansas, we always donated furniture and appliances to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, so that’s what we’re going to do with these items. They’re not terrible, just a couple tears. Here’s the couch…

…you can barely see the rip in the fabric from when Rossi got his bone stuck between the arm and the cushion.image

And here’s the chair and ottoman..

image…it’s still in pretty good shape, except for thisalong the back…

imageimage…that should be easily fixed, shouldn’t it?

Fortunately, we won’t have to find a way to get the furniture to the location…Habitat for Humanity will come pick it up!

Once we have our new sectional, we’re going to start a new “Getting Crafty…” project, but we can’t decide which one.

Here are a couple options…
We’re going to sell (maybe donate) our coffee and end tables. The gigantic dog crate will continue to serve as our coffee table, but we’ll need to build an end table. Check out my instagram page for the links to the plans.

We like either this one…image

…which matches the dog crate and our farmhouse table.   I would do different legs, though… these are little too bulky for my taste.

We like this one, too…image

…which is slightly different, but it matches our other project option…image

…this console table will actually go in our bedroom along this wall (please ignore the tubs of garage sale stuff)…image

…our bench was here, but Rob put it at the foot of our bed so the dogs could use it to help them jump on the bed.  We would use the table for trinkets and quilts and things. (I still love our wedding picture!)

What do you think should be our next project? The end table (if so, which design strikes your fancy), or the console table?  Leave me a comment, I love hearing from you!

Until next time… Happy Blogging!

Getting Crafty (final)…

We have finished our latest project!
Here’s a little recap.
Originally, our back patio looked like this…
That’s so blah!  It needs a little something, don’t you think?
Here was our inspiration…
…and here is the final product!

I’m so proud of how it turned out and how awesome the cushions are!  The cushions are a little big, but they are so comfortable, it’s not even funny!  I sat out there for over an hour tonight, in the cold, to type up blog posts about our weekend!
Now, if we can only decide which way for it to face!
Until next time…

Getting Crafty (part 4)…

Time to stain!
We got busy this afternoon after church…we wanted to get a coat of stain on the chair/table before the day was done.
Rob picked out the stain…
He made a smart choice!  This Golden Pecan was perfect!
I think it looks very beachy and the cushions we chose are going to look great!
The stain is very light and bright and I’m extremely pleased with how it looks so far.  Tomorrow we’re going to try to get at least one coat of polyurethane on it.  Rob says we’ll probably need 2 or 3 coats since the piece will be on our back patio outside in the elements.  I can’t wait until we’re finished!  This project is quickly becoming one of my favorites of all we’ve done!
On a side note… I broke one of my main rules when training for a half marathon… I wore my marathon shoes everywhere, not just while I’m training!  Therefore, I wore holes in the heels of my ASICS.  I asked a couple of my running-fanatic friends what they liked to run in and they suggested another style of ASICS.  I went out last night and bought these…
They are the ASICS Gel Kayano 20.  They were not cheap, but they are incredibly comfortable and came highly recommended.  I’m anxious to start breaking them in…the race is 3 weeks from today!
Until next time…

Getting Crafty (part 3)…

Rob and I went to the Oklahoma Blood Institute this morning to give blood… it was time and when you have a rare blood type like I do (AB+), the institute watches your profile and knows when your eligible.  The phone calls started yesterday!
It wasn’t a whole lot of fun this time…I have very rolly veins.  The first girl stabbed me and missed…she tried to move the needle around to catch the vein, but caused me such horrible pain!  I have a pretty large pain tolerance, but that was more than I could bear…I nearly shed a tear!  A second lady came in, stuck the needle in my other arm causing very little pain and we were rolling! Rob had to be stuck in both arms, too!  That poor girl…it just wasn’t her day!
I was done within just a few minutes.  I went and sat down to eat my cookies and drink my juice when the world started going black!  I’ve never passed out before!  The folks were quick to jump in action to rescue me…fortunately, I didn’t go completely out!  How embarrassing!
We were so glad to get out of there!
After all that drama, we went to Garden Ridge.  My good friend Stacey said they had a rather large selection of outdoor cushions and she wasn’t kidding!
It was almost overwhelming…this picture only shows one aisle!  There were at least 6 more just like it!
I was able to narrow them down to these three…
Rob really liked the one below because he felt the colors were a little more muted…
I really liked this one because the colors were so pretty and natural and the flowers were so beautiful…
The last one is so vibrant and fun!
We did make a decision…which one do you think we chose?
Until next time…

Getting Crafty (part 2)…

The roads finally cleared off enough yesterday afternoon for us make a quick trip to Lowe’s to pick up some more lumber to finish construction on our chair/table/bench thing…I’m not quite sure what to call it, yet…any suggestions?
In total, we used 21 2×4 stud boards at $3.24 a piece, totaling roughly $68. We also purchased screws, wood glue and other supplies, so currently we’re at a grand total of around $116 for this project.

Up next, the really fun part… picking colors and cushions!
I’ve decided to stain it because I want something a little more rustic and neutral.  Here are some options for stains…
What do you think?  I’m leaning towards the Redwood Naturaltone myself, although the Brick Red is pretty, too.  As you know, I’m quite fond of all things red and these particular colors lean more to that hue.

Cushions have been very hard to decide on…I may have to make them, which is not something I really want to do.  I don’t like to sew.
Here are a couple that caught my eye while perusing the internet during the huge letdown that was last night’s Super Bowl.

I’m looking for something with a very interesting pattern.  I’m a big fan of damask prints.  Again, I may have to bite the bullet and make them myself if I can’t find the perfect cushion.

The rest of this project will have to wait a few days…we are expecting 3, yes 3, more snow storms this week!
Come on Spring!

Until next time…
Happy Blogging
