Spring Break is winding to a close…it didn’t really feel like a break…that’s probably because I worked!  The Kid comes home Sunday and I can’t wait.  I really miss having him around!  It won’t be too much longer before he’ll be off to college…I’m desperately trying not to think about that.  I’m trying to get past the fact that he’ll probably have an actual job this summer and will possibly be getting his driving permit in December!  Oh help me now!!!!

Fashion:
The weather is finally starting to warm up and that means we’ll be taking our Saturday hiking trips again soon!  I was perusing the REI website the other day and came across these super cute hiking pants…

I really like the fact that these are convertible.  Mornings are still chilly around here and long pants are needed, but the weather tends to heat up quickly, just zip these off and now you have shorts!  Such a great idea!  There is even a capri length option by rolling them up!  I’ll take one in every color, please!  (I hear OKC is getting an REI store in the near future… I’m so excited!)

Product:
If you’ve been reading this blog long enough, you know that we take our two bull terriers everywhere with us!  One of our favorite places to go is the Bricktown area near downtown Oklahoma City.  Any given Saturday morning, you’ll probably find us there.  One thing about Bricktown, they’re pretty adamant about cleaning up after your pet.  I try to remember to load up my pockets with poop bags, but inevitably, I will forget.  So, I looked online for a cute way to attach a roll of bags to Macy’s leash and found this…
Product

I got it the other day and it’s perfect!  It holds a roll of bags and it still has room for your car key or some other small item.  It’s so handy!
ZippyPaws
It attaches to the leash with heavy-duty Velcro and it doesn’t slide up and down on our particular leash.
ZippyPaws
I didn’t want something cumbersome that would get in the way and be an annoyance… the ZippyPaws is the perfect answer!  Get yours at Amazon by clicking HERE. (Unfortunately, it looks like the ZippyPaws Dog Poop Bag Holder is currently unavailable, but I’m sure it will be back again soon.) (I was not compensated for this mention, I just really dig this product)

Instagram:
It’s no secret, we’re a bull terrier family and I follow several bullies on Instagram including this cutie named Nova…
Instagram
I particularly like this post because it is sooooo true!  I feel exactly like that about my dogs…I can’t imagine my life without them!  Click HERE to follow Nova and all here daily shenanigans!

I pinned this article from SkinnyMS the other day…

I love the idea of easing into a running program slowly.  I’m not a runner…I’m a “wogger”.  Maybe using this simple schedule will help me become an actual runner.

This one I made earlier this week…

I haven’t done one of these in a minute, let’s see if I remember how…

Happy Friday everyone! I don’t know about y’all, but I’m ready for Spring Break, which starts today!  We don’t have any specific plans since I’m still having to work, but I’m sure The Kid is going to have a good week off from school!

Here are some of my favorite things from this week…

Fashion:

I’m gearing up to start training for the Route 66 Half Marathon that will take place the weekend before Thanksgiving and I’m wanting some new wogging (walking/jogging) duds.  How about this?

This is too cute and too true!  Find it on Amazon by clicking HERE.

Product:

Keeping with the wogging theme… I’m curious about these personalized wristbands from Road ID…

These are so cool!  I will be ordering one ASAP.  I like the idea of having some form of identification on me when I’m wogging.  Get yours by clicking HERE (and, no, I was not compenstated for this mention).

This one from maverick_thebullterrier…

I just love this precious 3 month old bull terrier!  Follow him by clicking HERE and get a laugh!

Pin:

I have a hairapy session scheduled for next week and I’m planning to bring this pin to show how I want my bangs…

My stylist is super talented and I can’t wait to see how these heavier bangs look on me!  Click HERE to see this pin on Pinterest.

This one I posted earlier this week…

It was so incredibly delicious!  Click HERE for this recipe.

That’s it!  What are you favorites from this past week?  Or, just click one of the buttons below to see what’s popular!

Valentine

Happy Valentine’s Day tomorrow! I’m not sure yet how we’ll celebrate…I don’t even know what I’m getting The Hubs and The Kid. Probably some form of chocolate for The Kid. The Hubs needs some new white t-shirts…is that romantic enough?

Here are some of my favorite things from this week…

Fashion:
I’ve owned a FItBit fitness tracker for years. It’s very interesting to see how many (or in my case, how few) steps I take every day. I decided to ramp up my fitness and purchased a FitBit Charge for my birthday.
Fashion
This wrist band is so high tech! It counts steps, active minutes, sleep, calories, stairs and even has a Caller ID function, which is AWESOME! Click HERE to find out more about the FitBit Charge. Here’s a look at my day yesterday.
image
(I’m not proud of these stats, by the way. Yesterday was a slow day.)

My goal is at least 10,000 steps every day. I meet it about 3 times a week… I need to get my booty in gear!

Product:
This nail polish from Sally Hansen…
Product2
I love nail polish, but it tends to make my nails peel, so I don’t often wear it, plus it chips so quickly on me. I found this particular “velvet” polish at Walgreen’s the other day and I love it! It goes on nicely and I love the matte texture…
Product
(please pardon the nasty paint job…that’s another reason I don’t paint my own nails very often.)
This color is called Lavish. It also comes in a dark blue/black, a gorgeous teal and a pretty purple. It lasts several days, maybe 4, (which is a record for me, usually I only get a couple hours out of an at-home manicure) and came off super easily. It cost $5.99 at Walgreens. Click HERE to check it out online.

Instagram:
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know the Grammy’s were Sunday night. The fashion was, as usual, interesting to say the least. I couldn’t find a collage of my favorite looks by anyone I follow on Instagram…so, I created my own! (That’s not cheating, is it?)
Instagram
(all pictures from eonline.com)
Let’s face it, Gwen Stefani is amazingly gorgeous… she’s 45 (45?!?!), has been married for an extremely long time by Hollywood’s standards, and has 3 adorable boys! This outfit ROCKS!
Taylor Swift…T-Swizzle…whatever you call her, she looks unbelievable in this dress! So contemporary and classic at the same time…and those shoes! I would love to have those in my closet…in fact, I would love to have this whole ensemble in my closet!
Finally, Katy Perry. I’m not a huge fan of her music, but this dress is fabulous! I know it’s slightly see-through, but I don’t care! It’s not obscene. It looks itchy, but she looks gorgeous…and, I love the purple hair!
What were some of your favorite fashion moments from Sunday’s awards show? Oh, and for kicks and grins, click HERE to see my Instagram and follow me!

Pin:
The Hubs and I haven’t worked on a “Getting Crafty…” project in quite a while. In fact, the last thing we created is still for sale in our shop on Etsy (hint, hint). Click HERE to see it.
Chest
We really don’t have much room for more DIY furniture, so I thought this idea was neat…
PIN
I have so many framed pictures that are still in boxes from when we moved here 3 and a half years ago. I haven’t put them out because I don’t have anywhere to put them! Who would of thought, going from an 1800 square foot house to 1600 square feet would make that much difference, but it did! Click HERE to see this project on Pinterest and check out the other cool ideas featured on Ana White’s site!

Friday Favorites…

06 Friday Feb 2015

The first week of February has already come and gone! It’s hard to believe that 2015 is well underway and before we know it, it will be springtime! Hopefully sooner than later… I’m ready for warmer weather!

Here are my favorite things from this week…

Fashion:
Did you know that one in three women will die of heart disease or stroke? Here’s something you may not know about me… I was born with a “special” heart. I had surgery on my 21st birthday to fix it, but I will always have heart issues, including a murmur. Today is Go Red for Women’s “Wear Red Day” and as a survivor, I am participating. I’m not wearing this, but I would be if I’d purchased it in time…

Product:
I love perfume… my mother has worn the same scent for as long as I can remember and I will always associate the fragrance with her. My problem… I haven’t been able to find something that I could smell all day on myself. That is, until I received my Sephora shipment and opened the sample of this…
Product
This perfume is so light and airy and, yes, Dreamy! I immediately went to Amazon and purchased this full size bottle, which is beautiful itself. I wear it every day and love it so much! Click HERE to find Marc Jacobs’ Daisy Dream on Amazon.

Instagram:
This one from Mr. Kate…
Instagram
Mr. Kate is fantastic!  She has the best ideas and she’s so funny!  Click HERE to follow her on Instagram.

Pin:
I absolutely love the look of exposed brick. I’ve mentioned to The Hubs before adding brick behind the headboard in our master bedroom. Here’s what it looks like now…
Bed
I think putting thin bricks between the windows and behind the headboard would make the bed stand out even more. I found this easy tutorial on Pinterest the other day…
PIN
What do you think? Would that be too busy? Do you think it would make the room look smaller? I’m still debating and completely open to suggestions.  Click HERE to see this on Pinterest.

Recipe:
I ventured out of my comfort zone a little this week with dinner. Until recently, I’ve never been a fan of Cajun food. But, I made this the other day and it was wonderful!

It’s so hard to believe…tomorrow is the last day of January! This month has gone by so fast…

Fashion:
Every year for Christmas, my mother purchases my sister and me a piece of jewelry from our favorite hometown jewelry store. This past Christmas was no exception. She gifted me with this fabulous creation from Ronaldo Designer Jewelry…
Fashion
It’s called the “Katbird Bracelet”. It was named for one of the Ronaldo staff member’s pet name for his wife, who he affectionately called “Katbird”. The website’s description of this particular piece states: “The old saying “sitting in the catbird seat” means you’re “sitting pretty” or in an “enviable position.” Each bracelet has a special meaning and all are so beautiful and intricate. Check out the Ronaldo Designer Jewelry website by clicking HERE.

Product:
I love this hair product I got as a free gift/sample with purchase from Ulta several months ago and am just now trying…
Product
I love it because it makes my naturally curly hair easier to straighten. I spritz it on after I towel dry my hair and comb it through. I blow dry and flat iron and my hair is smooth and soft and not frizzy! When I use it, it only takes me an hour to straighten my hair instead of nearly 2! Click HERE to purchase “It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-in plus Keratin” through Ulta.

Instagram:
This one from Joanna Gaines of HGTV’s show “Fixer Upper”…
Instagram
Look at that light! How amazing! If you’ve never seen “Fixer Upper”, please check it out. The hosts, Chip and Joanna Gaines, are absolutely hilarious! I would love to have them renovate a house for us…her style is unbelievable! Click HERE to visit Joanna on Instagram and check out her amazing ideas.

Speaking of delicious… I made this earlier this week…
