Another week has gone by! The Kid is currently on Fall Break after finishing up his 9 weeks tests. I don’t remember getting a “Fall Break” when I was in school…but that was 20 years ago. Things were A LOT different back then!

What do you have on tap for this weekend? We’re planning to finish up our “Getting Crafty…” projects and hoping take the bull terriers for a walk downtown since the weather is supposed to be nice. It should be a nice, relaxing weekend in our house!

Here is a list of my Favorite things from this week… Continue reading »

Final Review…

Sally Hansen’s Miracle Gel… I had high hopes for this product, but in the words of The Kid: “Epic Fail”.
Here is a look at my “Daily Nail Diary” that ended up not being daily…

image

I applied Sally Hansen’s Miracle Gel in “Too Haute” as directed on a Wednesday afternoon…

By late evening, roughly 6 hours after application,  my nails looked like this…

…already a small chip.  Disappointment.
About 25 hours later, the polish had chipped even more…

Finally, after 5 days, I gave up on my Daily Nail Diary because my nails looked like this…

Here is my final review…
The polish’s claim to fame is that it is supposed to as long as a salon gel manicure, about 2 weeks, at half the cost.  It is a three step process (2 coats color, 1 coat special top coat)…no UV light needed. After only a few hours,  the color started to chip on my nails and after only 5 days I realized the polish was not going to work for me. However, it was extremely easy to remove (regular remover and a cotton ball) and it didn’t cause my nails to peel like traditional polish. My nails actually appear healthier than they did before I used the product. For that reason, (and because I really like the deep, rich purple of “Too Haute”) I will continue to use Sally Hansen’s Miracle Gel.

This was not a paid review… Sally Hansen did not send me products to try. I purchased the color at Walgreens myself using my rewards points and the Top Coat at Walmart (Walgreens was out of the top coat). I’d the company would like to send me other colors to try, I would gladly accept them! 🙂

My New Obsession…

First off… I must mention that I’m no manicurist and I’m certainly no hand model, so…
no judgement, please.
Thank you.
Now… my new obsession is…

Sparkly nail polish!!!  I just finished painting my left hand and had to take a picture.  The color pictured above is “Red Carpet” by Sally Hansen.  It’s a pretty, glittery true red.  I’m still on the hunt for a dark red.  I think a darker red would look better next to my ghost fingers.
I also LOVE this (without the black tips)…

It’s called “DS Extravagance” by OPI.  This one has been my go-to color for the last several weeks until I discovered “Red Carpet” yesterday at Target.
I also really like this neutral color…

This is Butter London’s “All Hail McQueen”.  This particular brand is kind of pricey at $14 a bottle and is available at retailers such as Macy’s or Dillard’s.  It’s a beautiful color and definitely sparkly, but I don’t think I could fork out that much dough for nail polish.  My cap is $5.
This one is great, too…

VERY BLINGY!  I’m really not sure of the name of this color, but it’s OPI.  I really, really like OPI nail polish.
Here’s another neutral with a very interesting graduation technique that I don’t think my clumsiness could handle…

I really want to know who does these girls’ nails… they’re all PERFECT!  The OPI examples are reviews by one girl for a blog.  She reviews several different colors in one day and apparently does her own nails.  I’d love to have mine look that good!
Not only am I obsessed with sparkly polish, I’m slightly obsessed with nail polish in general.  Here’s my box of colors/supplies…
Thank goodness nail polish is much, much cheaper than shoes!  I typically do my nails on Monday nights (while I’m watching “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”… again, don’t judge.  You know you love that show, too!)
Here’s my lineup for a long-lasting manicure that I learned from my absolutely favorite cosmetologist, Amber…

1. OPI’s “Chip Skip”
2. CND’s “Sticky”
3. 2 coats of your favorite color
4. OPI’s “Top Coat”
I better paint my right hand before I forget and go to work tomorrow with one red hand and one naked one!
Here’s my weight from this morning…

Not too shabby!

Until next time…
