…to that time we took a hike around Woolly Hollow State Park near Greenbrier, Arkansas.
This is the trailhead for the Huckleberry Trail. This was back in September 2010…months before we were told we were moving to Oklahoma. At this time, I had a goal of hiking/visiting all 52 of Arkansas’ State Parks. Before we moved, I think we had visited around 10.
There 53 State Parks in Oklahoma… we have already been to 7. Once cooler weather sets in, I hope to head out on more road trips around the state!

We road tripped to St. Louis for the holiday weekend!
We left Friday after The Kid got home from school…spent the night in Springfield…had breakfast with The Hubs’s cousin and his wife at Cooking from Scratch in the Missouri town of Doolittle and then traveled the last leg to St. Louis!
The Kid was so excited to see this guy…
That’s Jackson, my in-laws 60 pound bull terrier. This dog is a miracle! Click HERE to find out why…
We were also excited to visit with The Hubs’s sister, her husband and 3 precious little girls! They have grown so much!
Later that afternoon, we did this…
Razorbacks on the left, Mizzou Tigers on the right. My Hogs lost to Auburn, the Tigers beat South Dakota.
That night we celebrated my mother-in-law’s birthday with a dinner, delicious dessert and gifts!
On Sunday, after church and lunch, we went to the movies to see this…
This movie is so wonderful! I admit it…I cried twice, yes twice! If you haven’t seen it, yet…GO SEE IT!
We visited a little while longer Sunday night and then it was time to hit the sack since we were getting up super early to drive home. Jackson has the right idea…
The Hubs woke up at 4 (The Kid and me a little later) and we were on the road shortly after 6. We realized a few miles into our trip home that satellite radio was free because of the holiday!
Check it out! Van Halen! We thoroughly enjoyed listening to 90’s on 9 the entire journey!
A little bit later, our stomachs reminded us it had been several hours since we had eaten breakfast, so we stopped here…
Faye’s Dinner is located in Lebanon, Missouri. It was okay… nothing to write home about and we probably won’t stop there again, but the atmosphere was neat…
We arrived home to our precious bull terriers around 3:30…and that was our long holiday weekend! How was your’s?

Chicago… Day 3 (Part 1, Part 2)
Monday morning started off with breakfast around the corner from our hotel at a restaurant called “Wildberry Pancakes”. Don’t be jealous…but, I had these…
After feasting on those amazing chocolate chip pancakes and indulging in a Turtle Cappuccino, we braved the 60 degree temperature (it’s JULY for goodness sakes! Why is it 60 degrees??) and walked to The Adler Planetarium. Along the way, we enjoyed Lake Michigan…
I failed to take pictures at the Planetarium… sorry. We used our City Passes to bypass the line and got VIP treatment with two free IMAX presentations!
Next, we walked to The Field Museum. Also using our City Passes, we missed the crowds and enjoyed a free 3D movie.
That’s Sue. She’s the largest, best preserved, most complete T-Rex skeleton ever found! She was HUGE!
We skipped lunch and walked back by Millennium Park and Crown Fountain…
Oh, to be a kid again!
For dinner, we crossed off something on MY bucket list… eating here…
I talked about this restaurant in THIS previous blog post.
This eating establishment would typically be WAY out of our price range, but… we’re on vacation! I ordered this…
…with a side of mashed potatoes, which were $8 in addition to the $34 for the steak! No free side dishes here. It was delicious, but no Rancic sightings… boo!!
After dinner, we decided to venture out along the Magnificent Mile. While on our journey, we happened upon a movie in the park. They were having a free film festival showing movies that were made in Chicago. This night’s presentation: “The Blues Brothers”!
It was a very popular event. “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” was slated for Tuesday night. So fun!
We headed back to our hotel after the walk (we ended up walking over 10 miles on Monday). We needed to get some rest. We had to leave for the airport before 5am! Here was the nighttime view from our hotel room…
This trip was so wonderful! I hope to go back some time and take The Kid… he would have a blast! Now, over a week later, I think I have finally recovered! Up next for us… my 20 year high school reunion! (WHAT?!?!?)
Until next time…
Happy Blogging!
